WOW Coming To Rotorua!

You heard it here first – Rotorua is one of the five lucky New Zealand destinations of “Off The Wall: World of WearableArt® Up Close”!

For the first time in more than a decade the World of WearableArt® is touring 30 of the very best costumes from their historic collection.  This exciting exhibition has been designed by Wellington based designers ‘3D Creative’, and has taken 18 months to plan and create.  Utilising computer technology, the show will help create an innovative and interactive visitor experience for all ages, including school groups.

The garments included on the tour have been selected by WOW® founder, Dame Suzie Moncrieff, and Weta Workshop’s Sir Richard Taylor (of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit fame).  Experiencing garments in an exhibition environment is an opportunity to admire their incredible detail and intricacy up close and also to hear the extraordinary stories behind these mind-blowing works of art.
Moncrieff says “In Off the Wall you’ll see anything from 20,664 plastic collar stays to twelve leather suitcases, from recycled wool sacks to wood, corrugated iron to kitchen utensils or taxidermied birds to sumptuous silks.”

The exhibition is on show at Rotorua Museum until 10 February 2013.  This is an incredible coup for Rotorua, as the exhibition is only showing in three locations in the North Island.
