We have just heard about a family’s awesome weekend break in Rotorua, staying at the Rydges Hotel. Even though they have three children, Rydges were happy to have five in a room – and could actually take six people if they wanted!
That is one of the great things about Rotorua – there are so many accommodation options for families that it is one of New Zealand’s top family holiday destinations.
The Hotels do some amazing special deals, including kids eat and stay free. With buffet breakfasts and gourmet restaurants located on site, and free use of indoor heated swimming pools, hotels are now an affordable and easy option for families.
Another cool option for families in the summer time, is the amazing choice of camp grounds that we have in Rotorua. Ranging from five star campgrounds with playgrounds, swimming pools and mineral pools, to the Cosy campground with thermally heated steam ovens and beaches. You can stay in camp grounds that are walking distance from town, or you can go further out to places like the Blue Lake. If you don’t have a campervan or tent, then all of the camp grounds have cabins or units available to rent.
If you prefer motels, then you’ll be pleased to see some of the modern motels offering Mini Golf and BBQ’s, alongside the usual heated pool and spa pools. Nearly all the motels are walking distance from town, with many located on Fenton Street that joins up with all the highways in and out of Rotorua.
